End of price controls for new meters and meter operation

Ofgem letter (2 pages, PDF) confirming that the obligation of electricity distribution companies to offer a price controlled tariff for new or replacement meters and for meter operation services will lapse as planned on 31 March 2007.

This does not affect the existing regulatory processes concerning replacement electricity prepayment meters and domestic gas meters. A formal response to the June 2006 consultation on metering price controls is to be issued in October 2006.
