Another energy imbalance tolerance band proposal (P202)
Bizzenergy proposal (5 pages, PDF) that the first 40MW (20MWh per settlement period) of top-up/spill for electricity suppliers in Great Britain should be charged at 10 per cent above/below a market price (in cases where P78 does not already provide for settlement at a market price), with the (typically less favourable) top-up/spill rate derived from the prices offered for instructions accepted by National Grid only applying to top-up/spill beyond that tolerance band. The proposal differs from P201 because it would apply to spill as well as top-up, and because urgent consideration has been requested to permit simultaneous implementation with P194 (which may make the top-up/spill prices derived from accepted offers even less favourable). ELEXON has a dedicated page.
Update, 8 June 2006: BSC Panel chairman's letter (4 pages, PDF) to Ofgem advising against urgent consideration of this proposal.
Update, 12 June 2006: Ofgem letter (2 pages, PDF) ordering urgent consideration.
Update, 13 June 2006: Ofgem letter (2 pages, PDF) approving parallel urgent consideration for P201.
