ORR's proposed process for approving railway closures

ORR consultation (13 pages, PDF) on its proposed process for reviewing requests for closure of railway facilities or services under the new rules introduced by the Railways Act 2005. ORR's role is limited to reviewing the analysis provided by the authority seeking approval for a closure, and in doing so ORR must follow the statutory closures guidance to be issued by ministers. Draft guidance has been published for consultation in January 2006 for England and Wales and for Scotland. Responses by Friday 28 July 2006.
