OFT review of the deterrent effect of its competition work
OFT paper (18 pages, PDF) estimating the impact of the OFT's competition enforcement work (including merger control) through deterrence. This draws on results (138 pages, PDF) of surveys commissioned by the OFT.
Comments invited by Friday 1 February 2008. The suggestions on which comments are invited include:
- Reducing the priority that the OFT gives to investigations into retail price maintenance as a competition law infringement.
- Taking more decisions in relation to Article 82 or the Competition Act 1998 prohibition on abuse of a dominant position.
- The publication by the OFT or DG Competition of "clear guidelines" on Article 82.
