Duration of water price controls in England and Wales

Ofwat consultation (28 pages, PDF) on the length of price controls on appointed water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. The next set of price controls will come into force on 1 April 2010. The paper hints at a preference for retaining a five-year control period, even though it states that a price control period "as long as" 10 years might be appropriate "in an ideal world". Ofwat also puts forward some arguments for retaining the RPI as inflation index after 2010. Responses by Thursday 4 May 2006.
