PAC on Ofwat's approach to water efficiency and leakage

Report (41 pages, PDF) of the parliamentary Committee of Public Accounts on Ofwat's approach to water efficiency and leakage. This is based on the January 2007 NAO report. The report recommends that Ofwat should identify which water efficiency measures are the most effective before the 2009 price control review. It also suggests establishing a system of compensation to customers for hosepipe bans and other water restrictions, and conducting customer research to find out whether consumers would be willing to pay more for an improved service.

The report includes minutes of the hearing of Ofwat's Philip Fletcher and Regina Finn by the Committee. Ofwat (through the Government) will have a chance to make a formal response to the report.
