Ofwat's new markets team

Ofwat notice (now deleted) of seven £40k+ jobs in its competition team and a post of principal economist. These apparently new posts represent about 6-7 per cent of Ofwat's total wage costs (£5.7 million in 2006/2007).

According to the notices, Ofwat is assembling a new "Markets" team to work on "challenging, unprecedented projects" and "influence government agenda". At least one member of the new team is promised a £400-500k annual consultancy budget. The team is to report to a "Director of Competition Reform", who does not appear on the Ofwat organisation chart (as of 11 June 2008).

Applications by Monday 30 June 2008.

Update, 16 June 2008: Ofwat notice apparently extending the requirement. This advertises 11 jobs in the market team, not including the director, with an estimated payroll of £420,000-£520,000 plus taxes and benefits.

Update, 30 June 2008: Ofwat's director of markets will be Cathryn Ross.
