Judicial review fails to stop Northern Ireland water charges

Department for Regional Development press notice (3 pages, Microsoft Word) reporting a High Court judgment "allowing the vital Water Reform Legislation to proceed" so as to impose domestic water charges in Northern Ireland from 1 April 2007, subject to Westminster approval. The judge apparently found that there had been an impropriety in the consultation process but that it was not sufficient to prevent the Government from proceeding with the legislative process.
