BOC / Ineos Chlor referred to the Competition Commission

OFT notice (about 2 pages) that it has referred the proposed acquisition of Ineos ChlorVinyl's Runcorn chlorine business by BOC (now a part of the German chemical company Linde) to the Competition Commission due to concerns about potential unilateral effects (loss of competitive constraints on BOC) and tacit coordination (between Linde's BOC and Brenntag's Albion Chemicals) in markets for the supply of chlorine to UK water companies.
