Consultation on details of renewables obligation banding

UK Government consultation (108 pages, PDF) on the implementation of banding in the renewables obligation scheme. The changes are due to take effect from 1 April 2009, subject to State aid clearance and parliamentary approval.

Responses by Tuesday 30 September 2008.

In contrast with the previous consultation, the Government now proposes to allow existing generators using biomass technologies for which support is being increased to benefit from the increased support arrangements (subject to repayment of any aid received under other support schemes). Some affected generators had argued that the previous proposal was unfair and unjustified.

Note, September 2008: the original 3.2M Microsoft Word file has been replaced with a more sensibly sized PDF (but without a redirect — this Government website may be vastly improved but it is still not perfect).
