Department for Transport press notice providing some information about the Intercity East Coast passenger rail franchise (ex-GNER) awarded to National Express.
Under the new merger control arrangements, the award will only now be considered by the OFT. The OFT has powers to accept undertakings or to make a reference to the Competition Commission if it finds that the transaction may lead to a substantial lessening of competition.
