CC proposes to retain First Glasgow/Edinburgh price controls
Competition Commission consultation (38 pages, PDF) on a proposal to maintain the price control placed on FirstGroup's bus services in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas. These controls were established following First's purchase of S B Holdings. First had requested their removal and the OFT had agreed in its December 2006 recommendation to the Competition Commission (which was published in redacted form on 16 November 2007: 32 pages, PDF).
The Competition Commission's provisional view is that there is insufficient evidence of an increase in the competitive constraint faced by First since the 1997 merger control report.
