Commission inquiry into EDF and Electrabel exclusive terms

DG Competition notice that it has initiated an investigation into allegations that EDF in France and Electrabel in Belgium have (separately) abused a dominant position by establishing and maintaining “long term exclusive purchase obligations in their supply contracts with industrial consumers”. This appears to be a very similar allegation as the one being investigated by the French competition authority, over which it refused to order interim measures in April 2007.
