Draft Stagecoach/Scottish Citylink divestment undertakings

Competition Commission consultation (2 pages, PDF) on draft undertakings (51 pages, PDF) agreed with Stagecoach and Scottish Citylink's owner ComfortDelGro to clear their Scottish coach joint venture. The undertakings provide for divestment of services on Glasgow-Perth-Aberdeen and Edinburgh-Perth-Inverness, identified in the Competition Commission's final report as necessary to remedy the substantial lessening of competition associated with the transaction. There is to be a divestiture trustee to oversee the disposal.

Update, 1 February 2007: the parties are reported to continue to dispute the need for divestment, although no claim has been instituted in the Competition Appeal Tribunal against the Competition Commission's findings.

Short consultation period: Representations to the Competition Commission by Wednesday 14 February 2007.
