South East/Mid Kent water merger process starts
OFT notice of the proposed merger between South East Water and Mid Kent Water. The law on water mergers is likely to require a mandatory reference to the Competition Commission to consider the prejudice to Ofwat's ability to make comparisons between water enterprises. The OFT is also consulting on the possibility of a lessening of competition. Responses by Friday 10 November 2006.
