Proposed extra subsidies for Scottish wave and tidal power
Scottish Executive consultation (21 pages, PDF) on a possible extension of the Renewables Obligation (Scotland) scheme to provide higher subsidies to wave and tidal power projects. The preferred route for providing the additional subsidies is to introduce a specific marine renewables obligation (limited to energy generated in Scottish waters) alongside the existing renewables obligation, with the buy-out price for the marine obligation being set higher than for the general renewables obligation. The consultation invites views on how buy-out monies would be redistributed across suppliers, suggesting a redistribution based on compliance with the general renewables obligation as the preferred option.
