State aid clearance for new rail freight grants

DG Competition decision (16 pages, PDF) clearing under the transport State aid rules the Rail Environmental Benefit Procurement Scheme (REPS), a rail freight grant system administered by Department for Transport, the Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly Government, which replaces Company Neutral Revenue Scheme (CNRS) and Track Access Grants (TAG). The scheme uses standardised cost assumptions for containers (similar to the Company Neutral Revenue Scheme) and actual costs for other traffic (similar to Track Access Grants).

The clearance is limited to three years (2007-2010).
