MMC prohibits proposed bids for South West Water Plc

Monopolies and Mergers Commission reports into the proposed competing acquisitions of South West Water by Severn Trent Water and Wessex Water. The Commission found that the mergers "would prejudice [Ofwat's] ability to make comparisons between different water enterprises" and that this could not be remedied. South West's management had opposed the bids.
