Ofcom consultation on product placement

Ofcom consultation paper on product placement (50 pages, PDF). The consultation is intended to inform the debate taking place at the European level, and to ensure that an understanding is developed of the views of UK viewers and industry, should reform of the Television Without Frontiers Directive allow the removal of the current obstacles to product placement. Ofcom is seeking views in particular on what genres of content product placement should be allowed on, how viewer transparency could be protected and how product placements would fit in with other rules on advertising. Ofcom is also seeking views on how product placement rules for radio programming might be changed. Responses due by 13 March 2006.
