Human Rights Act 1998

The Human Rights Act 1998 made the rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights and its protocols part of the laws of the UK, subject to derogations, reservations and possible incompatibility of existing statutes.

Article 10 of the Convention (protection of freedom of speech) and Article 1 of the First Protocol (protection of private property) are of particular interest to regulatory policy.
