Railways Act 1993

The Railways Act 1993 provided for the privatisation of the rail industry in Great Britain and established what remains the core of the system of economic regulation of the industry.

It has been amended by the Transport Act 2000, the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003, the Railways Act 2005, The Railways Infrastructure (Access and Management) Regulations 2005 and The Railway (Licensing of Railway Undertakings) Regulations 2005.

The full text of the Act is available in HTML chunks from the OPSI/HMSO website:

A PDF version (401 pages) is available from The Railways Archive.

A version including amendments made by the Transport Act 2000 (but not by more recent legislation) was available from the ORR website at: (216 pages, PDF)
Bug: above file appears to be empty — a fairly common problem with PDFs on ORR's website. [Franck]
